My dear desktop companion…

Testing out the video and sound recording on the iPhone 4 with John Mayer’s super hit.

Verdict : way better than the camera on the iMac !!
iPhone 4 is a wonderland… and the false notes are not from the camera by the way ;)

Honk if you love Jesus, text while driving if you want to meet him.

animationus festivalus

In 2010, I experienced for the first time this crazy addictive disease called animationus festivalus.
To be more precise, it will better fit in the addiction’s family rather than in the disease category.
The symptoms are actually pretty obvious and start with a bunch of peoples without any regard to age, sex, religion or beliefs gathering in a town and starting to chat without any restraint to each others.

Some are jumping frenetically, others are laughing, usually those first symptoms bring a good mood to the patients.

The second symptoms is those sick weirdo persons start walking a LOT in the city where they gathered, from one theater to another, from a conference to a keynote, from a bar to an interview, from a dance club to an hotel ( see ? it’s getting worse..)

They bumped into each other ALL the time and endlessly like a 1.5 million peoples stucked in a bathroom.

Since 2 years, the disease had a tremendous change of shape and morph into something more…fancy.
The patients now wears gigantic red plastic glasses to go to see a movie and everybody seems REALLY happy about it.

When comes the night, a specific sound starts to appear from the underground and from the inside of every patient… the beers are coming.

Peoples keeps laughing, you feel like you’re a part of a big family. But you know what ?
You actually ARE.

animationus festivalus = GOOD !!!!

News : animation, Annecy and iPad

Just a quick update before going to bed.

Tomorrow I’ll be off to the international animation festival in beautiful Annecy.
I have some pretty cool peoples to gather with, my good AM friend and some professionals to meet for business talking let’s say.

Anyway, I’ll be back on friday night and I’ll go back at counting my days before my ‘precious’ fall into my hands.

Yeah…you heard it. I bought it like that, yeah just like that…
an iPad.

After testing it out for 20 minutes, it simply shocked me in so many ways that I couldn’t contain myself anymore.

Bare with me, it should arrives around June, 23th…

And stay tuned for some animation updates, some pretty big (actually HUGE) might comes real soon.

Today, I got my Fender back from the shop where they put a new set of strings on it and tweak it a lil bit to my playing.
Be careful, this is really guitar nerdy stuff !For many reasons, I decided to switch to 10-46 Ernie Ball strings when I’ve been playing on 09-42 for my entire life. Doesn’t sounds like a big change but I can actually feel and hear the difference.See…If you put more tension under your fingers, even slightly, it’s having a direct impact on many aspects of your playing, starting with your vibrato. You’ll have a less broad vibrato but you’ll feel your notes sticking more to your fingers, which is what you’re looking in my case, when you’re not shredding anymore and playing exclusively blues, jazz and rock. Also, when you bend a note, it feels like the amount of force in your fingers and the particular string tension of a 10-46 strings set are mixing up just fine to hit your note in a “blues” way and give you just enough space to vibrate this note and make it sounds beautiful without going down to the crazy wavy shredding vibrato some guitar players ( me included years ago) are doing.Anyway, to make it short, 10-46 really  feels right on my Strat. note for the future : gotta check the insane 13-58 that SRV used to play :)

FMX pictures

2 weeks ago, I came back from FMX which takes place every year in the wonderful city of Stuttgart in Germany. I spent one of the most fantastic week in my small animator career.

When you have been dreaming about visual effects, animation and movies since you were 10, being around so many talented and passionated peoples in one place is simply pure energy

Here’s some official pictures from the conference to give you a taste of how amazing this week was.

I’m tellin’ ya…

Good and powerful energy !

I have to admit John Mayer is one of the causes for my musical rebirth.
Just watch this and you’ll know why…
